NICK CLARKCo-OWNER & GENERAL MANAGER• Joined the Hayes Team in 2014 as our Sales Manager
• Owner operator since July 2017 • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management Nick Clark grew up in Longmont where he graduated from Skyline High School and carried on the longstanding legacy of his many ancestors who settled here and have remained in the Longmont area for over seven generations. Nick married David and Sherri’s oldest daughter, April, in 2011. He graduated from CSU Global in 2013 with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Management with an Emphasis in Small Business Entrepreneurship. |
Despite having no prior automotive experience, Nick was a quick learner and has completely embraced the philosophy that the reputation at Hayes has been built on for all these years - going the extra mile to provide the best quality auto repair in town, while striving to build lasting relationships with each and every customer that walks through the door! The success of the shop comes from the qualified service managers and the highly qualified team of ASE certified Technicians.

He keeps himself busy on the weekends by working on a project, hanging out with family and friends, hunting, golfing, remodeling houses, or doing any activity that involves being outside! He has also built up a pretty good reputation as a handyman because he has a knack for fixing just about anything. Nick always pictured himself growing up as a very successful entrepreneur, wearing nice suits, and sitting behind a big desk. At the young age of nine, he started up his own lucrative lawn mowing and dog poop removal business called “Deputy Doo Doo & Lawn Care.” He has admitted that as a young man he even preferred to carry his red briefcase over a typical backpack with his important papers tucked neatly inside.

SHERRI HAYESOWNER & OFFICE MANAGER• Opened Hayes Automotive with her husband in July 2002
• 45+ years office management & bookkeeping experience • Many hats – Payroll, Human Relations, AR, AP, & 'Shop Mom' Sherri is a working owner and the Office Manager at Hayes Automotive. Sherri has over 45 years office and bookkeeping experience. She started out as a receptionist right out of high school and eventually worked her way up to a full-charge bookkeeper. While her children were small, she owned and operated a licensed daycare for nine years. Sherri feels the training and experience she gained as an office assistant and full-charge bookkeeper over the years prepared her to apply that knowledge in her own business. She has definitely learned a lot about automotive repair over the past 23 years, but definitely deferred the overall management of the shop to her husband over the years, and now to her son-in-law, Nick, who is now an owner and the General Manager. |
Sherri and David have lived in Longmont since moving there from Thornton in 1992. Their three grown daughters attended schools in the area and all three graduated from Niwot High School. All three of her daughters are married so they have added two wonderful sons-in-law and a sweet daughter-in-law to the family as well as four beautiful grandchildren. She loves to travel pretty much anywhere and spend as much time as possible with family, who fortunately all live real close. In her free time, she enjoys photography and working on her scrapbooks. She continues to find it amusing she somehow ended up in an auto repair shop because her life-long dream was always to eventually become a nurse like her grandmother.

Lynsie KRIERWARRANTY MANAGER

It takes all of Lynsie’s clerical and management skills and experience to juggle home and work schedules. This is why she is also so good at keeping things running smoothly at the shop. When she is not working or taking care of her family, you can find her reading, working on a puzzle, spending quality time with the family, or sneaking away somewhere to escape the insanity for a few minutes! If you ever get the chance to attend a “6 Million Dollar Band” concert with her, she will show off some extraordinary dance moves! You do NOT want to miss this performance of a lifetime!
Growing up, Lynsie could always be found giving birth to, playing house with, and tending to her baby dolls. She was ALWAYS a mom! If Lynsie could pick her ultimate dream job, it would be to volunteer in the NICU where they need someone to hold and comfort the newborn babies all day long. For now, she will settle for Hayes Automotive sponsoring and supporting her “babies” in all that they do!

ALVIN ORTIVIZLEAD TECHNICIAN • Joined the Hayes Team in 2008 while attending automotive classes at Westwood College
• Lead Technician and Shop Manager • ASE Certified Master – L1 Technician with 18+ years experience • ASE Certified Diesel Technician with 10+ years experience • L3 Light Duty Hybrid/Electric Specialist 4+ years experience |
Alvin Ortiviz has a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, which he intended on using to build space propulsion systems. He had never really worked on cars much, but after watching the first “Fast and Furious” movie, he had an “ah-ha” moment. He went out and bought a Nissan 240SX to work on in his garage and thoroughly enjoyed it! He went ahead and finished up his engineering degree, but after a few years decided his true love was Automotive Technology and he headed back to school for a career change. This has allowed him to not only build things with his hands, but use his brain and utilize his engineering background to figure out complex problems.
Alvin is dedicated to continuing his education and training in automotive repair. As a result, he has received numerous ASE certifications, which include Certified Diesel Technician and Advanced Level Specialist (Master L-1) status, which is considered the highest certification in the automotive industry. He most recently achieved his Light Duty Hybrid/Electric Specialist to keep up with the growing surge in electric and hybrid vehicle popularity. If there is a training class available, we know Alvin will be there!
Alvin is a Colorado native and currently lives in Mead with his wife, Liz. They have three children who are all following in their parents’ footsteps: his two sons are in automotive repair, and his daughter is a nurse like Liz. He mainly enjoys spending time with his family, but he makes a point of exercising regularly and playing the occasional video game. He loves to read, especially fantasy and science-fiction, but also enjoys studying space science as well as Egyptian and Greek ancient civilizations. If Alvin had not changed careers, he would probably be working as an engineer somewhere – but his dream job would be to become an archeologist.

RON SORENSONTECHNICIAN• Joined the Hayes Team July 2018
• ASE Certified Master – L1 Technician with over 34 years’ experience Ron Sorenson became a member of the Hayes Automotive team in 2018 and brings with him 33 years of automotive experience and training on all makes and models, with a preferred emphasis on pre-1980 vehicles. He graduated from Midstate Technical College in Wisconsin with an Associate’s Degree in Auto Mechanics in 1987 and has worked in the automotive industry ever since. He worked his way through tire stores, dealerships, and mainly in independent shops over the years where he achieved his ASE Master Technician status as well as Advanced Level Specialist (Master L-1), which is considered the highest certification available in the automotive industry.

Ron was born and raised in central Wisconsin and moved to Longmont in 1995. He has lived here ever since with his wife, Tammy, and they have three grown children together. Ron loves to spend time with his family, his dog, and his granddaughter. It is his goal to take his family back to where he grew up in Wisconsin when he retires.
Ron enjoys hunting and getting outdoors whenever possible in his spare time. His true passion, however, is restoring vintage snowmobiles and collecting model cars, as he already has an extensive model car collection! His dream job would be to own his own vintage snowmobile restoration shop and salvage yard.

TANNER MILAMTECHNICIAN • Joined the Hayes Team March 2022
• Automotive & Motorcycle Technician • BMW II Certified Technician and OSHA Certified Tanner grew up in the New England area & attended Motoring Technical Training Institute in Rhode Island after high school due to his love of motorcycles. He also attended Benjamin Franklin Institute of Technology where he completed numerous courses in auto technology, but his real passion is working on bikes as a BMW II Certified Technician.

Tanner’s love of snowboarding was his deciding factor to heed the call out west to Colorado. He spent three months on the road in an old converted school bus until lack of money forced him back into the job force as a motorcycle mechanic in the Granby area. In early 2020, COVID forced him out of the motorcycle repair business due to layoffs, but the automotive shops were still open. He made the switch and has transitioned well into automotive diagnostics and repair on all makes and models. He eventually found Hayes and joined us as a technician in the automotive repair world.
Tanner currently lives in Louisville with his roommates and faithful dog Roxie, an Aussie mix. He is an eligible bachelor, who you will find either on the slopes snowboarding in the winter, riding his dirt bike in the summer, and enjoying the outdoors in his spare time all year round. His dream is to eventually slow down and run his own shop or business. He would also consider doing a little Calvin Klein underwear modeling if that whole “being the boss” thing does not work out.

FERNANDO CALDEROnTECHNICIAN • Joined the Hayes Team in December 2021
• ASE Certified Technician Fernando is highly experienced in front end, suspension, drivability and automotive repair experience on all vehicle makes and models. He was born right here in Longmont during the “Great Blizzard of 1982.” He grew up here with his family and three siblings, graduating from Skyline High School. He attended Denver Automotive & Diesel College after high school where he received his Associate Degree in Gasoline Engines. He then worked on training and developing his diagnostic and technical skills in other shops in the area until finding his way to Hayes Automotive.

Fernando is fluent in Spanish, which is another asset he brings to the shop. Fernando currently lives in Firestone where he enjoys his time with his family. He spends most of his free time listening to or collecting vinyl records, attending concerts, and honing his cooking skills. Fernando’s ultimate dream job would be to become a music producer or engineer who works with music on a daily basis! Otherwise, you will probably find him cooking up something on the outdoor BBQ grill or smoker and enjoying time on his back deck. He is also known to whip up some gourmet Ramen for lunch when working at the shop.

John Brissont IIService writer • Joined the Hayes Team in July 2025
• Service Writer Academy Certified John attended Merritt Island High School in Florida and graduated in 2002. After high school, he got his first automotive experience at Tire Kingdom before joining the Army in 2008 to work on helicopters.
While in the Army, John served our country in Iraq and Afghanistan. He met the love of his life, Candice, in 2009 while playing Words With Friends overseas. |
John officially married Candice on October 22, 2011. They decided to make Colorado their home, and they have lived in Longmont since 2014. Together, they are raising a cat named Harry, who got his name from a lightning pattern on his back. John spends his free time fishing, golfing, or binge watching Game of Thrones, Lord of the Rings, and Rome. He loves watching historical documentaries about our country or past civilizations as well.
John first worked at Hayes Automotive as a Class B Technician. He returned to Hayes Automotive as a Service Writer because he likes the overall atmosphere, which is different from any other shop he has experienced. He also enjoys his longtime friendship and working relationship with Nick.
